About Music Photo Archive
Music Photo Archive is a collection of photographs by Chris Horler, a British music photographer whose work defined some of the most iconic moments in live performance during the 1970s and 80s. His images appeared on the cover of Melody Maker, NME and Sounds and featured in countless music publications of the era, capturing legends such as David Bowie, Bob Marley, Blondie, The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Iron Maiden and Dire Straights often before they became household names.
Working with artists, management and music labels, Chris had access to both the stage and behind-the-scenes, documenting a generation of music with honesty, style and sharp instinct.
This site brings together highlights from Chris’s archive, much of which has remained unseen for decades. From gritty backstage portraits to explosive live shots, his work offers a front-row seat to music history in the making.
The full archive is available for editorial, licensing and exhibition opportunities.
